Owner's Description

One of three of the 10 livres, pick 28, printed during WWII in London, and marked with different geometric shapes to allow authorities to cancel them if the enemy got hold of the notes. The banknotes are dated 1 September 1939, the day Germany invaded Poland. They were put in circulation (with overprints) in 1942 and 1943. Front: Hamidiyyeh tower clock near the Grand Serail in Beirut. Back: fishermen in the city of Tyre in Southern Lebanon.
