Owner's Description

This is an example of the first $2 legal tender note issued by the Federal government to help finance the Civil War.

It is not one of my favorite designs, but is a very nice note for the grade. It received the infamous "Net" grade for an "Ink Burn." Not sure whether the ink burn originated in the printing process or was added later. I would normally not buy "Net" graded notes, but I thought this one was really nice and the ink burn is very small and unobtrusive.

I bought this graded on eBay in December 2012.
