BANKNOTE DATA

* A total of 500,000 Richmond stars were printed

* This note is from the second print run, which was a run of 250,000 notes

* This note was printed in September 2022 at the BEP facility in Fort Worth, TX


NOTABLE ABOUT THIS NOTE

Series 2017A notes have the same exact design and signatures as Series 2017 notes. Other than to say it was a “discretionary series change”, the BEP has never announced an official reason for the move to Series 2017A. However, there has been widespread reporting that the series designation was changed when the BEP began using reformulated in its printing process.


SIGNS OF THE TIME

This series features a Carranza/Mnuchin signature combination.

Jovita Carranza was the 44th Treasurer of the United States, serving from June 19, 2017 to January 14, 2020. She was appointed by President Donald Trump (first presidency).

Steven T. Mnuchin was the 77th Secretary of the Treasury, serving from February 13, 2017 to January 20, 2021. He was appointed by President Donald Trump (first presidency).


MEANWHILE, AT THE FED...

Jerome Powell was Chair of the Federal Reserve when this note was printed. Initially appointed by President Donald Trump (first presidency), he worked under two presidents spanning three presidential administrations (Trump-Biden-Trump), serving from February 5, 2018 to May 22, 2026.
