NOTABLE ABOUT THIS NOTE

The notes of this series are the first U.S. banknotes in history to feature the signatures of two women. They are also the first to feature the signature of a Native American.

As Treasurer of the United States, Lynn Roberge Malerba’s signature appears on the notes of this series. She was the first Native American to serve as Treasurer. Malerba also serves as Chief of the Mohegan Tribe and is the first woman in modern history to serve in this role.

As Secretary of the Treasury, Janet L. Yellen’s signature appears on the notes of this series. She was the first woman to serve in this position. Previously, she served as Chair of the Federal Reserve, making her the second person to serve as both Treasury Secretary and Fed Chair.

Lynn Roberge Malerba was the 45th Treasurer of the United States, serving from September 12, 2022 to November 15, 2024. She was appointed by President Joe Biden.
