NOTABLE ABOUT THIS NOTE

This was the first Bank of England banknote to include a foil patch, a security feature introduced to prevent counterfeiters from recreating the banknote on color copiers.


SIGN OF THE TIME

This note features the signature of Graham E.A. Kentfield.

Kentfield was the 28th Chief Cashier of the Bank of England, serving from November 25, 1991 to December 31, 1998.
