NOTABLE ABOUT THIS NOTE

This was the last large size $1 Silver Certificate issued.

The 1923 series marked the end of the large size currency era in the United States. In 1928, all U.S. banknotes were redesigned and reduced to the smaller, modern size still used today.

As Register of the Treasury, the signature of Walter O. Woods appears on this note. He would later serve as Treasurer of the United States, making him the first and only person to serve as both Register and Treasurer.

SIGNS OF THE TIME

This note features a Woods/Tate signature combination.
