Owner's Description

Maryland $1/9 MD-91 PMG VF35: August 14, 1776 Resolution set #11 / 6th Series to use Dollar Denomination

The MD-91 $ 1/9 Dollar denomination is somewhat of a scarce Note. The size and style of this Resolutions Note is smaller than earlier issues from Maryland and the same size as the December 1775 series and lacks the detailed Maryland seal as well.

The front (obverse) ornate border details are different than the December 1775 series, but the reverse of the MD-91 has an emblem and shield bearing the motto “SUB-CLYPEO PEO,” which translates to (Under Divine Protection) is the same as the earlier series. At time of this writing, PMG has graded only 10 of these specimens, with 2 as VF35 as highest grade. This Top Pop VF35 specimen has a reasonably clean obverse, with some minor tape residue on the reverse. Even with this minor imperfection this specimen makes for a nice addition to this specialized type set.
