Owner's Description

High grade for a note often found in lower condition. In the aftermath of World War II, the French government required citizens to exchange their old banknotes, including this one, for new ones in order to fight inflation and flush out money from the black market or held by the enemy. This exchange was strictly controlled and capped. Banknotes presented after the deadline or in quantities exceeding the authorized quotas were stamped "Not eligible for exchange" (or "NON ADMIS A L’ECHANGE”).
