High Grade!
The tolar was the currency of Slovenia from October 1991 until the introduction of the euro in January 2007. The definitive tolar banknotes—which were issued starting in late 1992—were brightly colored and famous for celebrating prominent historical figures in Slovenian arts, science, and politics.
The obverse depicts Jože Plecnik, a Slovenian architect who had a major impact on the modern architecture of Vienna, Prague and especially Ljubljana (the capital city of Slovenia), most notably by designing the iconic Triple Bridge and the Slovenian National and University Library building, as well as the embankments along the Ljubljanica River, the Ljubljana Central Market buildings, the Ljubljana cemetery.
The reverse displays the National and University Library of Slovenia, considered one of Plecnik’s greatest achievements. Since 2021, the National and University Library has been inscribed as part of Plecnik's legacy on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
