Owner's Description

This superb Venezuela specimen note represents the 1972 Banco Central de Venezuela 50 Bolívares, cataloged as Pick #54as and certified by PMG as Superb Gem Uncirculated 68 EPQ.

Printed by Thomas De La Rue (TDLR), the note features a classic Venezuelan design with Andrés Bello portrayed at right and the Palacio de las Academias at center. The specimen format is especially striking, with bold red “SPECIMEN” overprint, red oval cancellation stamps reading “SPECIMEN / NO VALUE,” and official punch cancellations through the signature area.

The note carries the specimen serial format A0000000 013, with PMG noting S/N A0000000 013 and watermark: A. Bello. Its exceptional 68 EPQ grade places it among the finest-preserved examples of this type, with strong originality, premium paper quality, sharp color, and outstanding eye appeal.

This piece is an important early high-grade Venezuela specimen from the Bolívar era and a standout addition to the Planet Banknote Venezuela Specimen Collection: Bolívar to Bolívar Digital, representing the refined banknote artistry and official archival specimen production of Venezuela before the country’s later inflationary currency transformations.
