Owner's Description

This Venezuela specimen note represents the 1979 Banco Central de Venezuela 10 Bolívares, cataloged by PMG as Pick #51s4 and certified Choice Uncirculated 64.

Printed by the American Bank Note Company, this classic 10 Bolívares issue features Simón Bolívar, “El Libertador,” at left and Mariscal Antonio José de Sucre at right, two central figures in Venezuela’s independence history. The note retains the elegant engraved style associated with ABNC production, with ornate borders, a detailed central denomination cartouche, and a soft green security-pattern background.

As an official specimen, the note carries an all-zero serial number format, bold red “MUESTRA” overprints across the face, and punch cancellations through the signature area. The printed issue date is Septiembre 18, 1979.

This example is a strong uncirculated representative of the later Bolívar-era 10 Bolívares specimen type. Its PMG 64 grade reflects excellent preservation, strong visual appeal, and crisp detail throughout. It also pairs well with earlier Pick #51 specimen varieties, helping show the evolution of Venezuela’s 10 Bolívares design across different issue dates and specimen printings.

An important addition to the Planet Banknote Venezuela Specimen Collection: Bolívar to Bolívar Digital, this note documents Venezuela’s pre-hyperinflation currency history through an official Banco Central de Venezuela specimen from one of the world’s most respected security printers.
