Owner's Description

This Venezuela specimen note represents the 1980 Banco Central de Venezuela 100 Bolívares Commemorative, cataloged by PMG as Pick #59s and certified Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 EPQ.

Printed by Thomas De La Rue, this commemorative issue features a bold portrait of Simón Bolívar at right, with colorful modern security-style engraving and patriotic red, blue, and yellow design elements throughout. The central vignette shows a monument scene, reinforcing the commemorative nature of the issue and Venezuela’s historical connection to Bolívar as “El Libertador.”

As an official specimen, the note carries all-zero serial numbers, a large red diagonal “ESPECIMEN SIN VALOR” overprint, and a red specimen cancellation stamp. PMG also notes the watermark as S. Bolívar. The printed date on the note is Enero 29, 1980.

The 67 EPQ grade makes this an exceptional high-grade survivor, with strong originality, premium paper quality, bright color, and excellent eye appeal. Its commemorative status, specimen format, and high PMG grade make it a standout piece within the Venezuela specimen series.

This note is an important addition to the Planet Banknote Venezuela Specimen Collection: Bolívar to Bolívar Digital, representing the refined security printing and national symbolism of Venezuela’s pre-hyperinflation Bolívar era.
