Owner's Description

This Venezuela specimen note represents the 1989 Banco Central de Venezuela 2 Bolívares, cataloged by PMG as Pick #69s and certified Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 EPQ.

Printed by the United States Bank Note Company, this attractive small-denomination issue features Francisco de Miranda at right, with a clean blue design, ornate denomination panels, and a compact horizontal layout typical of Venezuela’s late Bolívar-era notes. The face carries the issue date Octubre 5, 1989.

As an official specimen, the note displays the specimen serial format AA0000000 and a bold red diagonal “ESPECIMEN” overprint across the face. The all-zero serial format and specimen marking identify it as a non-circulating reference or presentation example produced for official use.

The PMG 67 EPQ grade makes this an exceptional high-grade specimen, with strong originality, premium paper quality, bright color, and excellent centering. Its smaller denomination and later 1980s production make it an important bridge between Venezuela’s traditional Bolívar issues and the monetary instability that would follow in later decades.

This note is a strong addition to the Planet Banknote Venezuela Specimen Collection: Bolívar to Bolívar Digital, helping document Venezuela’s official specimen issues from the pre-hyperinflation Bolívar era through PMG-certified examples.
