Owner's Description

This Venezuela specimen note represents the 1997 Banco Central de Venezuela 2000 Bolívares, cataloged by PMG as Pick #77as and certified Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 EPQ.

The note features a detailed portrait of Antonio José de Sucre at right, one of the leading military and political figures of South American independence. The design is especially attractive, with layered green, orange, and multicolor security engraving, the Venezuelan coat of arms at right, and large 2000 denomination elements throughout the face.

As an official specimen, this example carries the all-zero serial number format 00000000, a bold red diagonal “ESPECIMEN SIN VALOR” overprint, and PMG notes the watermark as A.J. de Sucre. The printed issue date on the face is Junio 18, 1997.

This example is also presented with the Planet Banknote custom PMG label, making it especially fitting for the Planet Banknote Venezuela Specimen Collection. The 67 EPQ grade confirms exceptional paper quality, originality, strong color, and excellent overall presentation.

A standout late-1990s Bolívar-era specimen, this note helps document Venezuela’s transition into higher-denomination issues before the more severe inflationary period that would later define the country’s currency history. It is an important high-grade addition to the Planet Banknote Venezuela Specimen Collection: Bolívar to Bolívar Digital.
