Owner's Description

This Venezuela specimen note represents the 2000 Banco Central de Venezuela 5000 Bolívares, cataloged by PMG as Pick #84as and certified Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ.

The note features a detailed portrait of Francisco de Miranda at right, with a modern blue-toned security design and bold 5000 denomination elements. The face includes the title República Bolivariana de Venezuela, reflecting the country’s updated national designation during this period, along with refined background engraving and modern anti-counterfeiting features.

As an official specimen, this example carries the serial format A000000000 1869, a red diagonal “MUESTRA SIN VALOR” overprint, and specimen number No. 1869 printed at right. PMG also notes the watermark as F. de Miranda. The printed date on the face is 25 de Mayo de 2000.

The 63 EPQ grade confirms this as an original Choice Uncirculated specimen with exceptional paper quality. Despite being a lower numerical grade than some of the Superb Gem examples in the collection, this note remains an important registry piece because it represents a new design era, a higher denomination, and the transition into Venezuela’s early 2000s monetary period.

This note is a valuable addition to the Planet Banknote Venezuela Specimen Collection: Bolívar to Bolívar Digital, helping document the evolution from Venezuela’s late traditional Bolívar issues into the modern high-denomination series that preceded the country’s later redenominations and hyperinflationary currency history.
