Owner's Description

January 1, 1776 5 Shillings. Delaware Colonial Note, Fr # DE-77 and serial # 88589. Beautiful paper surfaces are observed on this boldly printed note. The thick paper with blue threads and mica flakes is the same paper that was used for Continental Currency. The serial number and signatures remain bold although Collins' signature in red ink has faded slightly. The other two signers were McKinly and Sykes. James Adams, who worked in Philadelphia for Benjamin Franklin previously, engraved the cuts and printed the notes.
