Owner's Description
For the 1985 Series G 500 Cordobas banknotes they were authorised under two different Central Bank resolutions the first on the 30th of April 1985 and another one amending the total composition was on the 30th of December 1985. There is no break down for each denomination just a global amount across all denominations (500, 1000 & 5000 Cordobas) with a total face value of 550 billion and 300 million banknotes is listed in the Flores book. After checking the serial numbers and running some calculations I believe that there was approximately 60 million of the 500 Cordobas banknotes printed for this series. In 1987 7.25 million of these Series G 500 Cordobas notes were authorised to be overprinted with a new 100,000 Cordobas denomination and these are identified as Pick #149 and were placed into circulation on the 25th of January 1988.
They have continued with the same design from the previous 1979 Series E and 1984 Series F banknotes. Featuring the portrait of legendary poet Ruben Dario on the obverse and the Ruben Dario Popular Theatre on the reverse. The 500 Cordoba was the only denomination that had continued to use the same images on both the obverse and reverse continuing on from the previous governments issues from the 1960s and 1970s.
This particular banknote is a very low double digit serial number.
