The Bank of Thailand unveiled a 500-Baht commemorative banknote to celebrate the Auspicious Occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother's 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 12th August 2016. The issuance of this commemorative banknotes is to celebrate this auspicious occasion and to pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother for her incomparable contributions to the country through royal projects, especially promoting Thai arts and improving quality of life.

Front: The portrait of King Rama IX in the Royal House of Chakri gown.

Back: The main element on the reverse side depicts the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother in Thai Boromphiman costume. Other elements include the Royal family image, Her Majesty with the Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Center products, the royal emblem, Khon performance, Lygodium products, and the flowers named after Her Majesty, which are Queen Sirikit Cattleya and Queen Sirikit Rose.
