Owner's Description

This was the third and last 25 centavo note introduced in 1938. It was also very short lived as the fractional coins were used to replace the banknotes only one year later in 1939. The fractional note wouldn't return to Nicaragua until 1991 with the New Cordoba Oro.

Unlike the other two emissions this particular banknote kept the same design as the previously issued 1912 (P 53) 25 Cent banknotes. There was believed to be 1 million produced through two separate decrees, this note being 990 thousand would have made it within the last 10 thousand notes and was possibly a remnant note.

The first executive decree was # 96 on the 14th of November 1938 that was part of 2.94 million cordobas being placed into circulation. The amount was 400,000 notes from serial number 000001 through to 400000 with a face value of C$100,000 Cordobas.

The second executive decree was # 105 on the 22nd of December 1938 that was part of 2.28 million cordobas being placed into circulation. The amount was 600,000 notes from serial numbers 400001 through to 1000000 with a face value of C$150,000 Cordobas.
