Owner's Description

These 1979 2nd issue Series E notes are a continuation of the previous P 133 notes however these feature all new colours and designs.

These 1979 500 Cordobas banknotes were authorised under two executive decree the first # 787 on the 10th of August 1980. There was 1 million produced from 2000001 through to 3000000. This particular example would be considered a low serial number. The second emission was authorised under decree # 1317 on the 8th of September 1983 for 3.5 million more banknotes continuing the serial numbers from 3000001 through to 6500000. This has created two different signature types for this particular note.

It has the same effigy of legendary Nicaraguan poet Ruben Dario on the obverse who had now been featured on the 500 Cordobas notes since their inception in 1945, and through to the issues in the 1980s. He would be then featured on the 1000 Cordoba banknote in 2016. There is a view of the Ruben Dario National Theatre in Managua on the reverse. This same design is carried forward for the following Series F & G releases.
