Owner's Description

Cumberland, MD The Second NB Ch. # 1519 PMG 12 $20 1882 BB Fr. 496 SN 6856/N982969 pp A/7 dtd. July 30th 1885 A better Allegany County location found up in the western mountains of Maryland. Common enough during the Third Charter era, notes before that time are scarce with this note one of only four Brown Backs and the only $20 reported. The signatures of Cashier D(aniel) Annan and President Lloyd Lowndes are weak but there. Mr. Lowndes was governor of Maryland from 1896 to 1900.
