Owner's Description

There was two separate executive decrees authorising the issuance of the 1972 series C banknotes. The first decree # 73 -MEIC on the 26th of April 1972 authorised 8,000,000 10 Cordobas notes from 0000001 - 8000000. The second decree # 76-MEIC on the 13th of March 1974 authorised a further 10 million banknotes from serial numbers 8000001 - 18000000. This created both 7 and 8 digit serial number varieties. This is on the high end within the last 10,000 notes produced.

The obverse of the banknote features Andres Castro considered a national hero holding a rock, this is a scene depicted from the battle of San Jacinto on the 14th of September 1856 when Castro was left with no ammunition so he grabbed rocks and threw them at the attacking Filibusters.

The reverse of the banknote features Hacienda San Jacinto a farm located in the municipality of Tipitapa about 30 mins away from the capital of Managua. This farm was home to the battle of San Jacinto which took place on the 14th of September 1856. This scene was first depicted on this banknote. Later it was featured on both the series A & B 2002 & 2006 500 Cordobas banknotes. The same Hacienda was also featured on the short lived emergency issue notes of 1989-90 on the 50,000 Cordobas and 10 million Cordobas with a slightly different design. And more recently on the 1000 Cordoba 2016/19 issues.

As at October 2020 this was the only specimen note certified. There were a total of 8 regular issues graded between 64 & 66 EPQ (1 of which can be found in my 2nd set).
