Owner's Description

There was two separate executive decrees authorising the issuance of the 1972 series C banknotes. And there was a special third one just for the 100 Cordoba banknote. The first decree # 73 -MEIC on the 26th of April 1972 authorised 1,500,000 100 Cordobas notes from 0000001 - 1500000. The second decree # 76-MEIC on the 13th of March 1974 authorised a further 4 million banknotes from serial numbers 1500001 - 5500000. And a special third decree # 65 on the 13th of September 1979 authorised a further 1.6 million notes from serial number 5500001 through to 7100000. Meaning that this particular example is a high serial number being within the last 1000 notes issued.

The obverse of the banknote features Jose Dolores Estrada a Nicaraguan National Hero that was in charge of an army that helped defeat the filibuster army of William Walker in the battle at San Jacinto Hacienda in 1856. He was featured on the 100 Cordobas banknotes from 1962 through to 1984, then the 50 Cordoba banknote from 1988, as well as the 50,000 and 10 million Cordobas notes from 1989/90. And finally on the 2002/06 500 Cordobas banknotes.

The reverse of the note features the National flower the Sacjuanjoche.

The design of the note would continue through to the series E release of 1979 but with a different colour scheme.

As at October 2020 there was only 2 graded specimen notes both being in grade 67 EPQ. And there was 7 regular issue notes graded from 65 EPQ through to 67 EPQ. You can see a 66 EPQ regular issue in the 2nd set.
