Owner's Description

Athol, MA The Millers River NB Ch. # (N)708 PMG 15 $10 1902 PB Fr. 624 SN 9410/Z118842D pp E/587 dtd. Dec. 16, 1904. Signatures have faded away. Original series notes carry the town name as Athol Depot. Originally called Pequoiag by Native Americans, the area was subsequently settled in 1735 and in 1762, the name was changed to Athol. Outdoor activities center around the Millers River. The River Rat Race, an annual canoe race held each spring, draws participants from all parts of New England.
