Red seal notes are rare and costly, however it is a wonderful addition to the collection. Only 2 examples from PMG have graded higher than this note. It is very special to own such a rare piece of American history. And the red seal notes are easy to see why they are so coveted. Truly a beautiful note to compliment the far less expensive blue seal FRN's. Once again, the note was sent to re-holder with the pedigree of my name. The more notes I receive back with my pedigree, the more convinced I am doing something special. Doesn't it seem cool to know that some of these notes might survive in these holders for a century or maybe much longer? And when I purchase a note with a previous pedigree, I make sure that name is placed on the back side of the label to continue the provenance. Every time I see my name, it reminds me how mortal we are, how short life is, how precious each minute is and that my name may adorn this note for hundreds of years when they may be mere museum pieces. I wish more collectors took the time to pedigree their notes.

From the famous Doug Murray Collection for $599. Doug had an eye for notes similar to Thomas Flynn. I pay premiums for these notes and retain the pedigree. They could choose notes that always were better than the grade. PMG graded 22 of this rare note with only 4 of a higher grade. And the highest grade was a 55 EPQ. This note looks pretty good now!

Lincoln Portrait is the pinnacle of collecting. The obverse is light on ink but the reverse makes up for that times 10. The green colors on the reverse of the note are rich, emerald, deep and well-embossed. I haven't seen this common reverse art, out of all the $5's that are FRN's or FRBN's with such a deep, rich color of green.

This note is relatively common and inexpensive yet the red seal $5's are some of the most beautiful in the modern U.S. small currency line-up.

Gold clause notes are the sleepers. 1928 FRN's should retain their value. Although PMG has graded 39, almost all of the notes extant are PMG 66 EPQ, PMG 65 EPQ and PMG 64 EPQ. I did not get the EPQ moniker but I sure love the FRN's where a number is used on the seal to designate which of the Federal Reserve District the note emanated from originally. For instance, the serial number begins with "L" as is usually the letter placed in the seal. However, in this case the number "12" is used as the 12th Federal District of San Francisco. Pretty cool! Beautiful green reverse.

I keep filling out the 1928 "gold clause" series of all denominations as one can complete these at a very modest cost for large point totals. For instance, this note cost $121. The point tally is 1245. Many might disagree with my method of looking at points per dollar since the entire scoring system is subjective to some degree. This is a case where there there are many notes that have been graded and many notes are graded higher than this 63 EPQ. But the score is still impressive and at a ratio of 10.3 points per dollar is about as good as you can purchase, then this is a deal! The not is attractive, I want to complete several sets where this note fits so the system works for me. I especially apply the points per dollar for low cost, type notes trying to complete sets. When the cost of the note is more than $1000, I am much more careful and pay less attention to the ratio, I would appreciate to hear other's opinion on this.

This note is just simply gorgeous. The obverse is stunning and the emerald green of the reverse for the St. Louis FRN is better than any GEM. Look carefully to appreciate this note. Consider I bought it ungraded for $87 and it came back 64 EPQ. A tiny niche in the market...find the 1928 FRN's with the gold clause, look carefully for ungraded inexpensive notes, examine the detail as carefully as possible and look for jewels.

Surprisingly, only 163 mules have been graded. This note completes my Emergency WWII endeavor! I really think the Hawaii and North Africa notes are an incredibly special part of our history that speaks volumes about the mood of the country prior to WWII. We had to issue currency that could rapidly be nulled out of the system should the currency be captured! It should make us all thankful of the freedom we enjoy today that was earned with blood, sweat and tears by the "Greatest Generation."

Graded 64 at CGA and look how CGA and PMG agree to differ. Proves without a doubt. ALL CGA NOTES SHOULD BE PURCHASED AS IT WERE UNGRADED. CGA grading does allow one to know the absolute ceiling grade of a note, but not the cellar.
