One day, I will complete this set. What is holding me back. Minor little notes like the $500 and $1000 small gold certificate notes. Maybe not so minor. However, getting the $10, $20, $50 & $100 is a good accomplishment. I paid $1260 for this note which is quite reasonable. However, it also shows softness in the market as this note would usually go for 10-30% higher. From the Rochowiak Collection.

The Citizens National Bank of Los Angeles was chartered on July 31, 1901 and stopped printing money in 1935, printing $14,300,540 of 12 different types and denominations of National Currency. There are 33 $100 small size Type 1's listed in T&P so it's a common note, however this is the lowest serial number of that population.

Quite astounding that PMG has graded 582 Ty. I $100 notes and only 80 Ty. II's. Out of those 80, 26 have graded higher than this note.

It seems at auction that GEM, $100 FRBN's are auctioning at a fairly significant discount to retail. So I bid and win for a modest price. When you can pick up a PMG 65 EPQ $100 for less than $500, that seems to be a good bargain.

One of only a few gems graded at either service. Out of the 34 graded, PMG has only one recorded higher at 67 and one other at 65. A tough middle date $100 star.
