This is the 2d title of 3 which started out as The Third NB in 1883 adding the Phoenix to its title after Ch. 3942's liquidation in 1911. The bank's second title appeared on its notes from 1911 until 1922. Bright and original paper garnered an EPQ, with flashy ink colors and bold printed signatures of J. (Jno.) R. Downing, Cashier and W.A. McDowell, President.

Buckingham from this Boyd County bank that is 2d only to Adairville, KY alphabetically. This was the first bank chartered in Ashland on July 9th, 1872 and it operated until entering receivership in October 1931.

PMG noted Annotation which is "4500" to the right of the portrait. Stamped red signatures of J.W. Porter, Cashier and J.W. Stoll, President remain. A high denomination Date Back from the Bluegrass State that exhibits even wear with just a number (4500) penciled on the face. Speaking of numbers, that treasury SN looks sooo much like a radar if the trailing 4 is mistaken for an A.
