My Dee Dee who was like a Grandmother to me used to give me a crisp $2 bill for Christmas each year. She said she liked these notes because Elizabeth (the queen) looked her age and more human. I still have the first 1954 note she gave me. I love the majestic CANADA rising over the Prairie in the background. This 66EPQ note is a gem.

The front of this bank note features a portrait of William Lyon Mackenzie King the longest running Prime Minister in Canadian history. It also hosts the coat of arms of Canada and parliament. The note is red that can be appropriate since king created great trauma for Asians and Jews. That is a stigma he will not be able to ever lose. While in government and running policy he did create many wonderful things for our Social Security including baby bonus, affordable housing, fair income tax, unemployment insurance and welfare. He is still controversial for his racial policies that hurt many. I would not mind having him removed from our currency. The reverse of the note in this bird series features the arctic snowy owl on the Canadian tundra. It is a majestic landscape and one of my favourite pictures on banknotes. I had the pleasure of living with the Inuit for many years and seeing a snowy owl in its personal habitat.

This highest denomination $1000 Canada banknote is the last issue due to the government trying to combat money laundering and criminal use of this bill. The reverse of this bird series note features the Pine Grosbeak. This bill has the prefix of EKA and is a gem 65EPQ example.
