Obverse: Ornate scrolling with a Portrait of Emperor Yao, a legendary ruler traditionally believed to have lived c. 2356-2255 BCE, and one of the ‘Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors’ (semi-mythical rulers/deities of ancient China)
The design also incorporates bats (flying above the emperor), viewed as symbols of good luck and happiness, and, a form of the ‘endless knot’ on the back.
Obverse Color: Purple on pale multicolor under-print.
Reverse: Scroll and filigree frame
Reverse Color: Purple on Gray Blue underprint.
