The postcard was postmarked 14 July 1932.It shows Singapore's downtown waterfront scenery but without Clifford Pier. As Clifford Pier's construction started in 1927, the picture in the postcard must have predated 1927. This tells us that as a British colony, some 40 years or more later to 1967 when the Orchid $50 was first issued, the only change in Singapore's downtown waterfront skyline shown in the reverse of the Orchid $50 was the addition of Clifford Pier.
