Owner's Description

Due to the rarity of the issued notes, it is no surprise that the representative note for this bank is a very low grade 1 peso example. This is from the first issue in 1892, which has a handwritten date and signatures, whereas the notes dated 1893 and 1894 have a part printed date. Unfortunately, the combination of handwritten signatures and the low grade of this note makes it impossible to read the signatures however an impressive example, possibly unique graded at AU58, recently appeared at auction (Daniel Sedwick, 2023 May 3-4th, Lot1309) where the signatures are distinct. The hammer price for this amazing state of preservation was an eye-watering 22,000USD so this tatty example looks set to stay in the collection as an upgrade looks extremely unlikely!
