Owner's Description

As the most often encountered note, the representative note for the Comite Bancario de Guatemala entry in the Set is an example of the 1 peso issue. These seem to have been issued in batches, every 1-2 weeks or so from 18th April 1899 until 3rd August the same year. Allegorical figures representing Liberty and Justice sit either side of the Guatemalan Coat of Arms with a range of ships in the background. Vignettes of a ship (lower left) and a train (lower right) further highlight the importance of trade in the economy.
