Owner's Description

The note chosen for this Bank is a readily available remainder of 20 sucre depicting Columbus at the front left with a globe an anchor as symbols of his voyages of discovery. A shield bearing the Coat of Arms of Ecuador is also in the scene, topped with a helmet and with a chain – reference to the war for independence from Spain? As a remainder it is not unusual for the note to lack signatures however given the economy turmoil at the time these notes never even got serial numbers! The back of the note, surrounded by intricate scroll work, has a central image of Columbus leading a group of men in a row boat to an undiscovered shore (Ecuador?).
