Owner's Description

Washington, DC The National Bank $1.50 DC300NL150PP Proprietary Proof PMG 67EPQ Plate A PMG 5014285-014 dtd. Aug. 4th, 1862. A great odd-denomination note, this $1.50 features a portrait of a young lady wearing a wreath of laurel? in her hair and at right, a portrait of Winfield Scott, General of the Army from 1841-1861. Another unusual feature, which was rare on federal issues until the Civil War, is the use of engraved signatures of J.W. Northerman and E.T. Latham, occupying the Cashier and President's positions, respectively, but unlabled as such. Back stamped PROPERTY OF AMERICAN BANK NOTE CO. Printed as Sheets of $1-$1.25-$1.50-$1.75 G6-G8-G10-G12 dtd. Aug. 4, 1862
