Owner's Description

Anthony Overton a slave was born March 18, 1864, Monroe, Lousiana. He established and owned several
Hygienic Manufacturing and Sales companies. One being High-Brown Products, a full line of ladies fine cosmetics
in Chicago. Mr Overton also sought a national bank charter and in 1922 he opened the Douglas National Bank.
This was the first nationally chartered, Afro-American-owned bank.
