Due to the rarity of the issued notes, it is no surprise that the representative note for this bank is a very low grade 1 peso example. This is from the first issue in 1892, which has a handwritten date and signatures, whereas the notes dated 1893 and 1894 have a part printed date. The representative note is a 5 pesos note (S176b) dated 1st August 1916 and signed by Mariano J. Lopez and Leon de Leon Flores (Directors) and Juan S. Lara (Manager). The front of the note depicts a scene representing industry and agricultural production and the associated trade alongside the coat of arms and a quetzal – the national bird and the name used for the currency in use today. The example note is a 5 quetzales dated 13th January 1960 which has a flying quetzal and a three legged Mayan funeral urn on the front. The note is signed by Gustavo Miron Porras (President), Jose Francisco Fernandez Rivas (Manager) and Albino Gracias Paniagua (Head of Account Control).
