Owner's Description:
Where the balancing rocks are a major design feature on the front of the banknotes, with the checks of this series they appear only as part of the seal of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. On the back, the bearer checks of this series feature different designs, emphasizing things of national or cultural significance, much like the first dollar banknotes that came before them. In that regard, these bearer checks are a bit of a cross between the bearer checks and the banknotes of the first dollars ...
Owner's Description:
Where the balancing rocks are a major design feature on the front of the banknotes, with the checks of this series they appear only as part of the seal of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. This note is notable for the rather odd color mismatch on the front of the note. With the other notes in the series the note has a dominant / prevailing color that is used for most of the note, front and back. On most notes in the series all of the lettering and the denomination are all in this same color. Wi...

Owner's Description:
The 500 Million Dollar Bearer Checks were the largest and last issue of the 2nd dollar Bearer check series. After this note the government / Reserve Bank issued a short series of four Special Agro Checks and that would prove to be the last of the 2nd dollar. The Special Agro Checks were not supposed to replace the Bearer checks – they were meant to be used only by famers – however, the Agro Checks ended up in general circulation and no more Bearer Checks were issued, even as food prices continue...
Owner's Description:
This ZIM60 is a replacement note or a “star” note as they’re often called because the US Federal Reserve puts a star next to the serial number on replacement notes. With most Zimbabwean 3rd dollars the serial numbers start with “AA.” With the replacement notes the serial number starts with “ZA.” The 500 Million Dollar Bearer Checks were the largest and last issue of the 2nd dollar Bearer check series. After this note the government / Reserve Bank issued a short series of four Special Agro Ch...

Owner's Description:
The Special Agro Checks in this 4-denomination series are the first time the Zimbabwean dollar was issued in denominations of 1 Billion dollars or more. The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe issued Special Agro (Agricultural) checks from 15 May to 31 July 2008. Although of a different design and with the intention for use only by farmers, they found their way into regular use because of the parallel functions with bearer checks and the exponential rise of food prices. All of the other issues made ...
Owner's Description:
This is a replacement note and has a ZA prefix. The four denominations in this series are not the same by dimensions. The $25 billion note used different paper that was from the 500 ZWD banknote of 2001. Like the Bearer Checks that preceded them, the Agro Checks show the Chiremba rocks only as a minor design feature as part of the seal of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. The design of the front is dominated by very large numbers that give the first 1-3 digits of the denomination above the wor...

Although of a different design and with the intention for use only by farmers, they found their way into regular use because of the parallel functions with bearer checks and the exponential rise of food prices. All of the other issues made that were not regular banknotes were labeled as "emergency" issues. For some reason they called these "Special" Agro Checks instead. There were the last c...
Owner's Description:
The four-issue Agro Check series represents the last gasp of the 2nd dollar. While economic stability had not been achieved and hyperinflation continued to rage through the Zimbabwean economy, once the denominations hit 100 Billion or higher the government is going to be forced to cut some zeros off the money to keep the numbers at least somewhat manageable (if you can call 100 Billion dollar denominations manageable). As a result, in July 2008 the government was forced to go ahead with the 2nd ...
