Amboy, IL The First NB Ch. # (M)5223 REPLACEMENT PMG 30 $10 1882 BB Fr. 490R SN 1772/R14963R pp B/22 dtd. Oct. 11, 1899. Delicate and perfectly spaced pen signatures of H.H. Badger, Cashier and F.N. Vaughn, President, complement the brown overprint. Badger and Vaughn saw the demise of this Lee County bank on October 2, 1934. Amboy had its start in the 1850s when the Illinois Central Railroad was extended to that point. The community's name is a transfer from Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
