Set Description:
1 Dollar Silver Certificate - 1934
Several changes were made on this series of silver certificate.
The 1934 series silver certificate had several changes from the 1928 versions of the bill. Most noticeable is that the seal of the Federal Reserve was moved from the right side of George Washington over to the left behind the word βONEβ all in capital letters.
The second change is a large numeral β1β placed to the left side of George Washington behind the obligation clause.
On small-sized Silver Certificates beginning with Series 1934, in order to denote current location of deposit, it was changed to read: "This certifies that there is on deposit in the Treasury of the United States of America (number) dollar(s) in silver payable to the bearer on demand".
