Set Description:

Specimen Sets & Singles Issued by the B.S.P. 1969 to Date
Series No.2. 1st. PINOY TEXT
Specimen notes for 5 10 and 20 Piso denominations were printed by the German firm Giesecke and Devrient (G&D).
All other Specimen notes issued in this, and future sets or singles were printed by The De La Rue Company (TDLR), and then by the Security Printing Plant, Manila (SPP).
Many people are confused by the term ''De La Rue Specimen'', A specimen note might be printed by TDLR, but only the specimen notes with a red or black oval De La Rue overprint (see note p152s2) are classed as "De La Rue Specimens".

After the Opening of the Manila's Security Printing Plant in 1978 there were 4 major Specimen set releases, after those, single note issues were the norm. Many of the early Specimen notes up to 1978 carry the "A" serial number prefix, later issues show a various number of prefixes, many being the initials of either the President or BSP Governor (JL, JF, CA, JC, JE, RB + others)
Series No.6 1st. REDESIGNED
Two sets of 1st Redesigned notes with the Aquino - Fernandez combination with either a "CA" or "JF" prefix of each denomination.

As well as the two sets, there were about 11 Specimen singles released in Series No.6.
Series No.8 1st. DATED
In the following 28 years (1995 - 2023), the BSP released about 30 Specimen notes,
13 notes were assorted 1997-2001 issues (p180-p187).
In 2001 with the new Holographic notes an Arroyo set with a "GM" prefix, perforated "SPECIMEN" was released, later the 2009 200 Piso (p203s), from the Bangko Sentral Commemorative Issue.
There is also the 2nd Dated 2010 set, all A000000 with a small black "SPECIMEN" overprint.
I know there are other Specimen issues, but they're unknown to me, "new" unlisted items do turn up now and then.
I have about 30 Specimens to list (once I find the money for grading), and a few of the recent finds, including an early De La Rue, are unlisted in Pick, The Banknote book or here at PMG.
I doubt anyone really knows what's out there, and does the BSP even keep records of what Specimens were issued?
