Set Description
Tuvalu has a Primary (the only one) S50c, 2012- Date, Proof set that has 32 sets within that category. It has presently 77 eligible coin slots and is basically a dumping ground for all things Tuvalu that are S50c. There are probably at least a half a dozen different sets that could be carved out of those 77 slots. I have asked NGC to create at least 4 new sets and while I wait, I have decided to create custom sets. Update: Advised by NGC Registry that "small sets" will not be created. So "custom sets" will be my only option to showcase these coins!!
Set Goals
This is a 5-coin series and the coins were produced by the Perth Mint for the country of Tuvalu. Nothing cuter that these cubs!! Note: I have this same set as a PCGS set. It's a Gold Award Winner for 2018 & 2019. It also has been noted as the "Best of the Registry" for 2020, 2021, & 2022. I have a digital album link below if you want to take a look:

Coin Highlights:
Extremely limited mintage of just 5,000 coins in total! Third of five designs to be released by the Perth Mint! Consists of One-Half Troy ounce of .999 fine silver. Face value of 50 Cents is legal tender in Tuvalu. Reverse features the colorized design of snow leopard cubs. Obverse bears the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Stunning proof quality coins.
Each of the coins in the Silver Australian Cub Series from the Perth Mint offers a perfect combination of real-life, color on the reverse and .999 fine silver. On each coin’s obverse face, the image of different cubs from the large feline species of the world are colorized to bring the images to life.
With the release of the 2016 ½ oz Silver Australian Cub Series Snow Leopard Proof coin, the Perth Mint highlights the endangered snow leopard of Central and South Asia. As of 2003, the global population of the animals was estimated at somewhere between 4,000 and 6,500 adults. Among the unique features of the snow leopard are its long tails, which are (on average) longer relative to the rest of the body than all other species of cat save the marbled cat.
On the reverse face of each of these coins you’ll find Ian Rank-Broadley’s right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s image has appeared on commonwealth coinage since she ascended to the throne in 1952, and is occasionally revamped to reflect her age.
The obverse side of the 2016 ½ oz Silver Australian Cub Series Snow Leopard Proof coin bears the colorized image of a snow leopard, complete with background imagery that reflects its natural habitat in Central and South Asia.

On the obverse of the 2016 ½ oz Silver Australian Cub Series Lynx Proof Coin you’ll find the colorized image of two lynx cubs at play. As one cat lays against a rock in the foreground, another playfully stocks his companion, sneaking up behind him in the snow to playfully pounce on his buddy.
The reverse of all Australian Cub Series coins includes the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this design is the fourth-generation depiction of Her Majesty to appear on Australian coinage.
The term lynx is often used by some to refer to a specific species, but in reality it can be used to describe one of any four species within a larger genus of medium-sized wild cats. This family includes the bobcat. Lynx are recognizable by their short tails, tufts of black hair on the tips of their ears, and large, padded paws.

The popular Australian Cub Series of 2016 from the Perth Mint rolls on with the release of the White Lion coin. The 4th coin in this adorable series features the image of two cubs, which maintains the design theme featured across the entire series to date.
Coin Highlights:
Ships in Cub Series themed packaging with a box and a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. MAXIMUM MINTAGE SET AT JUST 5,000 COINS FOR GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION. 4TH RELEASE IN THE AUSTRALIAN CUB SERIES! Contains ½ Troy oz of .999 pure silver. Face value of $.50 (AUD) is fully backed by Tuvalu’s government. Reverse features the colorized design of two White Lion cubs. Obverse bears the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Unique among an already dwindling population of big cats, the white lion is found exclusively in the Timbavati region of South Africa. Although the white lion has a white, sometimes blonde color, to its coat, the species is the same as the tawny African lion.
White coloration in big cats is a recessive gene carried by both parents, and it is possible for a female to give birth to both white lion cubs and tawny colored cubs in the same litter of new cats. This fourth release continues the Perth Mint’s look at some of the most adorable big cat species in the world through the lens of young cubs at play.
On the reverse side of the 2016 ½ oz Australian Cub Series White Lion Proof Silver Coin you’ll find the image of two white lion cubs playing with one another on the savanna, with one on its back as the other paws at its face. This colorized image includes background designs of the local area, a common theme of all Australian Cub Series coins.
The obverse of the coins features Queen Elizabeth II’s right-profile portrait. Featured on all Australian, Tuvalu, and Niue coinage, Her Majesty’s portrait on these coins is the fourth-generation image created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley.

Tigers are the largest cats on planet Earth, and their habitats consist largely of lush, dense jungles on two different continents. The Siberian Tiger is perhaps the most well-known subspecies in the world, and is found throughout the Asian continent. The Sumatran Tiger is one of the most endangered subspecies within the tiger family, and largely inhabits the Indian subcontinent.
On the obverse is the image of a pair of tiger cubs playing in a field. The colorized portions of the image include the tigers and the field in the background, while distant trees and a structure in the far background remain in pure silver finish. The lone engraving on this face is the Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark.
The reverse face of the coin features the fourth-generation depiction of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this depiction is surrounded by engravings that include the coin’s weight, purity, metal content, year of issue, nation of issue, face value, and Her Majesty’s name.

There are actually 51 graded @ PF70, and only 7 graded @ PF69. Grading, just another mystery!!
Coin Highlights:
Limited mintage of just 5,000 coins available for this design! Second release of the Silver Australian Cub Series! Arrives in a themed presentation package, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Consists of one-half troy ounce of .999 fine silver. Bears a face value of $.50 with legal tender status in Tuvalu. Reverse features two adorable Jaguar Cubs. Obverse bears the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Struck as a proof specimen.
Jaguars are not native to the Australian continent, or anywhere else in the region. Native to the Americas, the jaguar is the third largest cat species in the world and the largest in the Western Hemisphere.
When a jaguar cub is born, its eyes remain shut for two weeks. Associated with thick rainforests, rivers, and swamps, a jaguar cub is taught to stealthily hunt its prey from the age of six months. The jaguar cub will leave its mother’s den by the age of two to fend for themselves.
All 2016 ½ oz Silver Australian Cub Series Jaguar Cub Proof Coins are available inside a black display case from the Perth Mint, and ships inside of a colorized box celebrating the Jaguar Cub in the series. The second of five coins, the Jaguar Cub was preceded by the Tiger Cub coin, and will be followed by the release of the Leopard Cub, White Lion Cub, and Lynx Cub coins.
On the reverse is the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, England’s longest-serving monarch. Her image has appeared on British and commonwealth coinage since she ascended to the throne in 1952.
The obverse features two young jaguar cubs with different coat patterns found in the wild. One cub has the familiar yellow-and-black spots, while another is a sleek, jet black in appearance. An Incan temple in the background serves as a nod to the Americas, and the word “Cubs” is engraved above.
