Congo Free State. Leopold II Nickel Proof Essai 2 Centimes 1906 NGC PF62 (Crossed over from a PCGS SP62 holder). KM-Unl, Dupriez-133. 23mm. An impressive Proof test strike produced in nickel, featuring the emblematic design image seen on the Congo Free State coinage and a small, centralized flower surrounded by Essai and Monetaire. The surfaces are lightly reflective and contain a number of insignificant ticks that ultimately limit the grade, but this is still a rare, off-metal issue that is rarely-encountered. (Extremely Rare). I have a accounted for about three examples.
One other thing that makes these pieces unique is though it's not mentioned - the 9 is an overstrike of [8] I believe, the 8 shaved down, etc. maybe. They were definitely using the 1888 obverse as a starting point.
