*An excellent overall strike with deep bronze surfaces and a dark antiqued outer rim on both the obverse/reverse.*
MEDAL BACKGROUND:
Struck circa 1970 to commemorate the centennial of Strasburg, Colorado. The issue also recognizes the end of the stagecoach era, ushering in railroad transportation as noted on the reverse. The centennial of the Comanche Crossing which traveled from the Pacific to the Atlantic is also recognized on the obverse.

“The Comanche Crossing of the Kansas Pacific Railroad is a site where the last spike was driven into the first continuous transcontinental railroad on August 15, 1870.
