MEDAL BACKGROUND:
Struck circa 1985 to advertise the Denver-owned business “Rocky Mountain Coin” and to commemorate/advocate for the use of silver in trade. — Rocky Mountain Coin has 2 locations in the Denver-metro area. A smaller shop off Arapahoe Rd and I-25 and its primary headquarters off Broadway in Denver. They are Colorado's largest and oldest rare coin and precious metal dealer since 1976; Colorado’s centennial year and America’s bicentennial.
—————
In my early days of collecting, I obtained hundreds of coins from RMC. They were my go-to as I was really getting into the hobby. Everyone knew me by name. I’d buy discounted coins to sell online. With the profits, I’d then buy a coin I wanted to add to my collection. Therefore, having an actual coin in my collection from Rocky Mountain Coin is both nostalgic and meaningful. — I have obtained one other coin from RMC that was struck in brass. It is not dated but once graded, it will be added to this collection!

Design Concept:
If the design on the obverse of this issue looks familiar, they’d because it’s certainly been seen before. Based on my “own” research, I believe it to be most closely reminiscent of the obverse mine on the Montana Dollar (HK-820). However, it also looks very similar to Colorado’s Century of Progress Type IV SC$1 obverse mine. Lastly, there are certainly many Lesher and Referendum SC$1’s with a mine depiction on the obverse. However, again, the design most closely fits MT HK-820 and CO HK-870.

RARITY: 1,000 (Mintage Number) — However, I have yet to encounter another example
