Owner Comments:

This is a variety not included in the H&K standard reference book. The legend above City Hall on the reverse states “San Francisco Disaster & Fire”, not “San Francisco Earthquake & Fire” as on HK 340A. Silver plated with dual integrated loops as struck, for suspension. The obverse shows California Street with buildings in ruins. The reverse features the ruins of City Hall.

THERE ARE ONLY (2) OF THIS TYPE LISTED IN THE NGC CENSUS AS OF 10/2024, AN AU 55 EXAMPLE, AND MY MS 61 EXAMPLE.

NGC had originially slabbed this medal as HK-340A. I sent it back to NGC for reattribution.
