I think it would be fun to build a high grade set of comics, having at least one from each recognized pedigree. Not sure if that will ever happen, $$$$$, but I’m gonna try!
As of 07/01/2023 there are 18 different pedigrees represented out of 61. Long way to go but I do enjoy the hunt!
In the last two months, I have added five new pedigrees to the set! Bethlehem, Circle 8, Don/Maggie Thompson, Ohio and Northland. 49 books from 23 different pedigrees.
December 2023: I got the second batch of reholders with the new labels. Ready to send the next group in!
January 2024: the third group came back! Also awaiting the arrival of Crowley and Hawkeye copies. Preparing to send in another group soon. All of the new images have been added too.
March 1 2024: there are now 54 books from 25 different pedigrees. Sending in the last group for new labels next week.
May 14, 2024 Just added the 56th book from the 27th pedigree
June 25, 2024 Added 2 9.6 Don Rosa GI Combat books today. Both were upgrades from a 9.2 (211) and a 9.4 (215)

With this custom set I would like to break the norms and create a high-quality, informative and aesthetically appealing online display of all my favorite comics with no parameters or concern for points or standing in the registry. I also wouldn't mind upgrading some of the books that came back restored / qualified either. I'd also like a BB #105 and a better Mask #2 (my copy currently ungraded), but I don't really see that happening without a winning lottery ticket.
It's all just a matter of opportunity, luck, and money!

I have passed 100 graded .5's. I have gotten away from the tedious task of listing them. It is about time I start again. I am proud of my low grade collection even if others don't understand it. The fact is I do not understand it myself. All I know is until I stop enjoying having these, I'll keep going.

I hope to acquire all the books that I deem as my Birthday Books. This list is approximately 139 titles long. Some are April/May books, while fewer are March/April books. Most are raw since I do not want anything less than a 9.2 to grade. There might be some exceptions to that, as of this writing in March of 2019 I currently have about twenty graded. Let us see what I can accomplish this year.
Years have passed. Currently, with four days and three hours until the deadline is up for awards, I have 47 birthday books listed. One was upgraded...twice...while others were added. Some very reputable 9.6's. And some glorious 9.8's.

Although most in this set are from the 1980’s, would like to add issues that were released up to 12/13, which is when Marvel Newsstand Editions stopped being produced.

Sixties Marvel Comics Inside and Out

My main goal here is to represent a large variety of genres across the entire line of Marvel Silver Age comics. This set will first offer an attractive, unrestored CGC graded example of a Marvel Silver Age comic (the numerical grade not being of particular focus), then feature an original art page from that issue. The idea here is to display a parade of different Marvel titles, drawn and inked by the talented artists of Marvel's Silver Age bullpen. This set will be ever evolving and changing as art pieces are added and/or newer, more desirable art pieces replace previous spot holders, or comics have been upgraded. This set will provide me with limitless opportunities for growth and an endless range of material to add to this collection.

Atlas/Marvel Twins, Triplets & More

I am an avid Atlas & Marvel Comics collector! Discovering these books printed by various publishers around the world has been an exciting revelation to me! I endeavor to build a collection of primarily Marvel Silver Age American Editions (along with some earlier Atlas Jungle titles and some later Marvel Bronze Age comics) and their counterparts by Mexican, British, Dutch, German, Greek and other publishers from around the globe. Where I can, I will try to acquire them in similar grades, unless I already have an acceptable American copy or it's just not very feasible due to cost. There is no price guide to my knowledge and very little available information about these "Other Nation Edition" issues, as they still feel like they're in their infancy. CGC doesn't even have set type listings for any of them as yet. So, the only way for me to share them via registry is to build them into a custom set.

I'm not sure how many issues of his I'll eventually have graded copies of, but I'll add them as I acquire them. I'd like all of any early ASM / PPSSM / Web Of era covers until his "death" for sure but it's impossible to stop there. At this time cover appearances are more important than issues where there was just an appearance / cameo.
The fun ones to track down are the random appearances that these characters made in non-Spidey titles. For some there are very few - if ANY - in 9.8, so it's not easy. Even some of the modern covers are scarce in my preferred grade. But that's not stopping me! ;)
Ideally I'd like any appearance and maybe even add in the Hallows Eve and Demogoblin issues too! It helps that there are a lot of issues where there are appearances by multiple characters.
Some will be issues that I got off the rack or out of bins and others much later. Let's go!!!

Iconic1s Custom Doomsday Set!

I placed the first book in my competitive set at 9:32 PM on 8 March 2018. I created this Custom Set in October 2022 to be able to enjoy my larger collection of these books in one place.
I'll also add any other book here that fits with my Doomsday, Death of Superman, Funeral for a Friend, or Reign of the Supermen tribute theme, such as a neat Wonder Woman 111 that I recently discovered with a John Byrne Doomsday cover!

Marvel really began to hit their stride in the mid 1960s, fleshing out their characters while developing a different manner of storytelling and establishing a cohesive Universe where characters from different titles and even different GENRES interacted with each other in a revolutionary way!
This Custom Set will feature Marvel Silver Age comics from the mid 1960s thru the end of the Silver Age, spanning genres from superheroes to war and romance/teen humor to westerns, and whatever other 9.6 and higher Marvels that I can find within these loose set parameters! Universal graded copies are the norm here, but I also enjoy sprinkling in a few Pedigrees and Signature Series comics when I can find them! In fact, there are quite a few pedigree comics in this collection that are certified in Universal labels. While I have no specific criterion for page quality, I obviously prefer to have as close to white pages as I can.
One enjoyable side benefit of this Custom Set versus the pre-defined competitive sets is that beyond being Marvel Comics beginning in the mid 1960s (very loose parameter), the finish line of comics being on the stands by December 1969 and being 9.6 unrestored or better, there is no specificity of which comic issues are to be included in this set. Simply put, it's never incomplete ... never missing anything. I can leave it as it is or add to it ... and it's always complete!

My initial goal upon being introduced to these La Prensa published Mexican issue comics was to try to find some of my favorite first appearance issues of Silver Age Marvel Comics heroes and villains. It didn't take long for me to move beyond that initial idea and expand my search to include other La Prensa comic issues from that era. This time period would mostly be the comics published from mid 1961 and being on the stands thru December of 1969 in their American form, with a few earlier and a few later examples if I can find them. These Mexican publication cousins of the Marvel Silver Age comics are printed from the same original artwork as the American Marvel comics, but frequently have some differences, sometimes minor, sometimes substantial. I've said it before that seeing these Mexican publications are like discovering a room in a familiar house that you didn't previously know about. Most of these issues feature different house ads and back covers. I hope others find looking at this set an enjoyable, perhaps even educational experience.
