Polar Babies - Polar Bear (1)
1/2 Oz Silver - Proof
1st Issue of the Polar Babies Series
Limited Mintage of 5,000 coins
This is the first issue of the colored coin series "Polar Babies". The lovely silver coin shows a polar bear cub in the snow. The polar bear is easily recognized by its distinctive shape, from its round posterior to its pointed black nose. Although the bear's fur looks white, each hair shaft is actually pigment-free and transparent with a hollow core that scatters and reflects visible light, much like what happens with ice and snow. The coin is struck from 1/2 ounce of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality. The coin's obverse features a polar bear cub in the snow.
The coin’s reverse features the Ian rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2017 year-date and the monetary denomination.
