Owner Comments:

The HK-157 medals were made of white metal and struck in two different diameters; 37mm & 40mm, with certified 40mm examples being much rarer. According to the NGC census, only 12 40mm examples have been graded compared to 49 of the 37mm medals. This is one of the 40mm medals and it is pedigreed to the Jeff Shevlin collection. The medal has a beautiful iridescent gun metal blue patina that adds wonderful originally to its surfaces. Its eye appeal is fantastic and is much nicer than I was able to capture in my photos. At MS-64 1/0 it is the finest known 40mm example. The overall rarity for both the 37mm & 40mm medals combined is listed as R5 (76-200 known).
