Owner Comments:
This unlisted So-Called Dollar apparently was struck as a memorial to president Ulysses S. Grant. It is made of bronze and shares the same size (35mm) and obverse design as HK-278 & 278A. Its reverse, however, is the same “Let Us Have Peace” reverse that was later used for some of the Peace Jubilee medals that were struck after the end of the Spanish-American War in 1898. With glass like surfaces and rich chocolate brown color, it is a very pretty piece. It has been graded MS-66 by NGC and is considered extremely rare (5-20 known). Unfortunately, NGC has no population data listed in their census for this medal.
