The Olympic National Park Quarter was released on June 13, 2011 as the 8th quarter of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program.

Located in the State of Washington, Olympic was designated as a National Park on June 29, 1938. The park consists of four regions: the Pacific coastline, alpine areas, west-side temperate rain forest, and drier leeward side mountains. The quarter’s reverse features an elk standing alongside the Hoh River with a view of Mount Olympus in the background.

I visited Olympic National Park in July of 2014 and took this waterfall picture while hiking in the Hoh rain forest.
